I found another way to meditate. It is called strong determination sitting. I found that some people sat for over 2 hours in a session. You have to be careful to not overdo it because you can cut off your circulation. If you sit still for a while without moving, you will clear your mind.
You cannot look at television or your computer. The object of strong determination sitting is to give up. We can control ourselves and no one else. We have to stop trying to control others and focus on what we can control. You have to stop yourself from thinking and start using your senses to be aware of your surroundings.
You can blink your eyes, but you cannot move any other part of your body. You have to keep your back in a comfortable position so you will not experience back pain. You have to make sure that you are sitting in a comfortable chair or on a comfortable mat.
During your sitting, you are focusing on nothing and you pick how long you will sit. I think about MLK when he used sitting for his demonstrations. This showed that African Americans were not moving until they are treated equally. This means that you are strong, unmovable, and determined. Just imagine using that same determination to go back to school or look for a new job. You can do it.
Practicing strong determination sitting will help you to build the confidence that you need to accomplish your goals . If you use the same focusing technique to accomplish your goals, you will finish your task. The art of mindfulness is that you stop thinking about your problems and start being aware of your surroundings. All you have to do is sit down, and breathe. Be determined not to move.
