I have written posts about being happy and how to overcome negative attitudes. Thinking positively is something that we have to practice. There are feelings that are natural but sinful. Lust is one, but is this sinful to lust after your spouse or significant other? The bible warns us to stay away from these types of feelings. When you first see someone that you like, you look at their smile, hair, or butt. This is not wrong unless you began to lust after that person. I have heard some people say that they had sex on the first date and now they are happily married. Being attracted to someone is normal, but lusting after someone is wrong. The meaning of lust is an intense or unrestrained sexual craving, or an overwhelming desire or craving. Controlling our lustful nature is important for healthy relationships. God want us to control our lust. Here are some bible verses about lust.
For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.
I do not think that God gave us these feelings and then will punish us if we feel it. I feel that it is alright to be turned on by a person who you are hoping to have a relationship with. It is wrong to have lust where you cannot control your feelings, and do something crazy like rape or murder. Do not feel bad when you have feelings of lust. Just control yourself, so these feelings do not overwhelm you and make you do something crazy. Balancing our emotions is important, so practice balancing.
