We have been celebrating Lent for over a week now. Lent reminds us that we came from ashes and we will return to ashes. Material things or fame should not be our focus. Sacrificing helps to redirect our focus so we can remove strongholds. Strongholds are things that we put before God. You have until April 9th to fast Lent. Here are some encouraging bible verses that will help you during this period.
Genesis 2: 7-9
7 Then the Lord God formed a man[a] from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. 8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. 9 The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden was the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned.
At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Reflex on these verses when you get weak during your Lent Journey, so you can stay focus. Put God first in your life and strongholds last. Learn to enjoy your life before you turn into ashes.
