Control your emotions at work

We spend more time at work than with our families.  Most of us work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.  This comes to over half of our lives.  It is important that we control our emotions at work because we want to save some energy for our loved ones. Keeping a cool head at work should also increase your productivity.   Here are a few suggestions to help you make it through your workday with ease.

                Find a quiet place

                Those of you who have followed my blog know that you must have a place where you can unwind.  It can be at a park, in your car, or at your desk.  This is a place where you can focus on your inner being.  You can block out what is happening around you.  If you do not have one, find one.  It would best if you go to your quiet place every day. 

                Meditation

                Practice breathing slowly. This helps lower your blood pressure and heart rate.  You will relax and feel energized.  If you are having a heated debate with a co-worker, stop and go to your quiet place to think.  You can then come back to the situation with a level head.  If you do not cool off, you will do something stupid.  Take some deep breaths before you act. 

                Prayer/ Bible Study

                Let’s say that your boss passed you up on a promotion that you applied for.  You want to storm in his office and give him a piece of your mind.  You worked there longer than the other person and work overtime to get projects done.  Pray about it.  If you can, study your Bible.  After calming down, go and talk to your boss.

Staying calm at work helps you get through your day with ease.
