Do you ever be still and communicate with God? David wrote in Psalms 4:4, “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.” Most of us are so busy that we rarely stop to talk to God. Lying down for some of us is the only time that we are still. Here are three ways to we can commune with our hearts while we are in bed.
Sleep meditation has become very popular. When you meditate, you become mindful. You can concentrate on your blessings and you can repent your sins during meditation. One should meditate on bible verses before they go to sleep, so the Holy Spirit can guide you during the day. Meditation will help you to be still and reflex on the goodness of God.
Every believer should spend time in prayer. Before you go to bed you can kneel or lie down. Prayer is a great way to release your emotions. You can take anything to God in prayer. David urged his readers to commune with their hearts and be still. Prayer is a private way for us to speak with God. Before you go to sleep, pray, repent, and rejoice.
Reading something positive will give you an uplifting feeling. This way you will not go to bed with a bunch of negative thoughts. Negative thinking has been linked to sleep disorders. When you study your bible or read something uplifting, you will reduce stress. This will make it easier for you to fall asleep. Keep a good book or the Bible on your bed stand. You can also download an eBook on your computer or phone.
