African American History Month

I found an interesting article written by Julia Craven named “We Absolutely Could Give Reparations To Black People. Here’s How. A step-by-step guide to paying the descendants of enslaved Africans.” For years now, activist for African Americans are shouting that America owes us. This may be true, but do you really believe that the US Government is willing to cut us a check. Some government officials are treating President Barak Obama unfairly because of the color of his skin. African Americans today are still treated as second class citizens. We have contributed so much to this nation, and we still are not good enough. Civil rights leaders like MLK and  Malcom X have been demanding equal rights for African Americans, and this still has not happened. Now, I do agree that to some degree it is our fault. We have black on black crimes, sisters behaving badly, and African Americans not working together for the greater good, but America has overlooked the mistreatment of African Americans for years. Money would be great, but being treated fairly would be better. I do agree with the concept of this article, but we need something that money can’t buy.
